Charitable giving gone awry

My heart is in the right place when I make a charitable donation so why do the charities use our donations to buy trash and send it back to us. Humane Society of the United States has sent out blankets, umbrellas, canvas bags. With all the homeless animals, un-neutered animals, and now in this economy, hungry animals, I am sure there is better use of those donations. If I couldn't afford to buy those things, I would not be sending money to those people in the first place. Then there are the endless phone calls. I have finally learned not to donate to anyone new for fear of getting on their calling list. Now I am beginning to get charities soliciting donations on my cell phone. I feel like I am being stalked.

I'm old and now I have a blog. I can't keep up with my email, my newspapers on line, and the blackboard. What is the point of one more thing to try to log on to?
